The Camp Compass organization was a very positive benefit on my family and children. My two boys, Joe and Nik, both went through the program. The program taught both of my children to be the best they could be, to get a good education while still taking the time to care about the outdoors and being a positive influence on their environment. While my older son Joe had a good grasp on academics, my younger son, Nik, had some trouble with schoolwork. The Camp Compass Academy instructors helped him learn a different way to study and do his schoolwork. His grades improved dramatically once he began his time at the Academy. He went from barely passing school to graduating high school with high honors. Without the help of John Annoni and the other instructors at Camp Compass I believe Nik would have had a very difficult time with academics. Both of my boys learned valuable leadership lessons. I was able to volunteer at the Academy to help with various activities and went on several field trips with the group, John Annoni and Chad Groover. Camp Compass allowed me to spend time with my boys and we continue to do so to this day. Nikolas is currently studying for his Masters in Plumbing and Joseph is an officer in the U.S. Navy. I truly believe that Camp Compass played a big part of shaping the characters of my boys and helped make them the men they are today.
